Tierra McDearmon, a Bethel Univesity student, practices using a M2 Browning Machine gun. Cadets didn't fire live rounds from this gun. They shot a simulator, which shoots lasers at a movie theater-size screen that displays running targets, instead. A computer tracked their hits as well as the movement of the gun's barrel. This develops the cadets' shooting skills. They referred to it as the best video game in the world.

During a 5:30 a.m. run, cadets in Leaders Training Course go through physical training and classes to learn how to be healthier. Drill sergeant's use the term high speed cadet to refer to a hard and proficant worker.

"Where Eagles Dare" is part of a high ropes obstacle course that challenges a cadet's fear of heights. Every event at LTC has an underlying goal. This event is meant to boost their confidence.

Cadets wait under a tent for a lightening storm to pass. Learning how to function once fatigued is a hurdle to be overcome by the cadets. In rare instances of rest, like this one, every minute is taken advantage of.

Cadets were pushed physically and mentally to their breaking points. The rights of passage ceremony, held after a four-mile road march at 4 a.m., was a capstone to their journey. It was on a parade ground lined by 18 trees and 18 torches. Leiutenant Colonel Doug Jett, the company tactical officer, passed the torch of the past after Joshua Melo, a Washington State University student, recited the Army Values. The torches and the trees symbolize the campaigns fought by the 1/46th Infantry.
